LittleBits Synth Kit In Collaboration With KORG

The littleBits synth kit is an incredibly powerful, easy to use modular synthesizer. The Synth Kit, developed in partnership with Korg, a pioneer of electronic musical equipment, enables amateur and professional musicians to easily explore the iconic synthesizer instrument, allowing you to make exciting new sounds and build their own infinitely customizable and expandable analog modular instrument and put on your own performances – all with little to no engineering or musical knowledge. The Synth Kit includes an assortment of 12 electronic Bits modules that instantly snap together with magnets to create circuits like those used in Korg’s famous analog synthesizers.

Developed to inspire innovation in hardware, littleBits lets users create circuits in seconds, with no soldering, no programming and no wiring required. littleBits has been recognized as “LEGO for the iPad generation” and has been heralded as the most extensive, modular and accessible electronics platform in the world. The brand’s Bits™ modules revolutionize the way people interact with technology by breaking down electronics into their very basic parts (lights, sounds, sensors, motors, programmable circuits), and making engineering fun and accessible to “non experts” of all ages including children , teachers, artists, designers, makers, hobbyists and tech-enthusiasts.

littleBits makes an open source library of electronic modules that snap together with magnets for prototyping, learning, and fun.

My kit just arrived the other day. Not a “serious” piece of kit by any
means, but enormous fun with amazing sonic potential nonetheless. I’m
definitely going to be expanding it when the individual units become
    available.

Best commercial I’ve seen in a long time!!!! Props to Reggie Watts for
being amazing and hilarious as usual!

I can see why the more experienced guys and girls are seeing this as being
a bit of a gimmick, for me it looks fun … maybe wouldn’t of used Reggie –
he has done some amazing work previously but this was neither selling the
product or himself. I mess around using beatbox and it looks like it could
be just a little fun to incorporate this in, who knows. Will certainly be
checking out some of the gear mentioned below in comments though!

The littleBits Synth Kit brings the easy, hands-on familiarity of
littleBits circuit modules to the world of classic, modular analog
synthesis and sound manipulation at an affordable price point. Add on
motors, lights, inputs, and logic to expand the parameters and unlock new
vistas of potential with the littleBits Synth Kit. Unlock your musical
potential with bottom dwelling bass, fiery fierce midtone bladder-busters,
paint peeling highs, and archaic wobble parameters guaranteed to conduct
wizardly electricity. As an added bonus the Synth Kit box doubles as a
performance platform, converting into a two tier playing surface to help
you shine in the spotlight. And when the hordes of adoring fans ask you the
question, “where did you come from” “with these amazing sounds” just smile,
pause, and softly say that Reggie Sent Ya!

It’s nice that that oscillator is 1v/octave, but the tuning gets flatter
with each octave. I spent a while interfacing it with an analog synth just
to find that it only sounds in tune if I play using half an octave. I’d
love to see an updated version that fixes this.

What an incredibly shitty vid. Why not show a musician. One that knows
about synthesizing and technology. And is really cool…
